Informations on tournaments with lower time control

Many tournaments that take place on the ChessBase chess server have a short reflection time so that they can be finished within one day. This does however lead to increased time trouble and thus rather often to a deterioration in the quality of the games.

This is why we now also offer tournaments with lower time control with 7 participants each, in 3 different divisions according to playing strength.

In a round-robin tournament, everybody plays a rated game against everybody. The usual reflection time is 25 minutes per player with an additional 10 seconds per move. Players are free to agree upon different reflection times by mutual consent. For a longer game, however, the reflection time per player has to be at least 15 minutes with an additional 1 second per move!

Once 7 players have registered within a division, a new tournament can begin as the tournament director informs the participants via e-mail about the opponents concerned. Within one month all games must then be finished.

The players involved must themselves agree on the dates for their games, either via e-mail or using the mailing system of the chess server, which is already operational under Fritz 8 . For this purpose, within 5 days of the start of the tournament, White sends to the opponent some first suggestions for possible dates, which should be responded to immediately. If no further communication or agreement takes place within 10 days, the tournament director should be notified!

The winner reports the result of the game to the tournament director via the Result Page. Games that end in a draw are reported by White.

The group winner can be promoted to a higher division. In the uppermost Division A, the winner is entitled to play in the so-called Champions League. The tournament director sends out separate invitations for this tournament as soon as 7 candidates have qualified.
